On the island of Botel Tobago in Taiwan, the first lunar month yami (July-August) are dedicated to building and parties to collective competitive nature. They are punctuated by chants responsorial that can be run as karyag, "accompanied by hand clapping." The unit is composed Yami residence of the house, a platform and a Makaranga. The latter is a secondary building that is used for craft and ritual. Here is celebrated the ritual of inauguration of the new Makaranga Grandfather-of-one-who-is-cache (Siapen-Pavingen) of lineage-Bamboo (Do-Sira Kanalan). The ceremonial distribution of taro, pork and fish flying enables manufacturers to wrest Makaranga the "wandering dead" (Anitua) came for their tribute.
