Thread from a wholly spun spindle is wound into a ball. The thread from the ball runs through a hollow bamboo stick which is held in the hand; then it is wound into a skein with the help of a double-T-shaped handreel. The skein is taken off the reel, starched in a solution of rice flour, and then strung between two poles to dry. When the skein is dry it is put on a reel and the thread is unwound into a basket. Six thread-beams are knocked into the ground and two women fix the wrap.
