Title
Suphasit Son Satri (Proverbs for Women)
Description
The Proverbs for Women is called “Suphasit Son Ying” or “Suphasit Thai”. Prince Damrong Rajanubhab told that Sunthorn Phu had written it between 1797 – 1840. When he left the monkhood and became a layman, he had to live in a boat because of the poverty in his downfallen time. Considering its words, this text is likely to be what he wrote for sale to any women, not a specific one. The original copy is in the National Library (Ho Phra Samut). It is called “Suphasit Thai”. It is written in other person’s name, on one knows that it is the work of Sunthorn Phu. The words in the original is also strange and inaccurate, and needed to be edited in many places, but it is still considered well-written and enjoyable.
