This case study presents the working group’s field research in the Pratupa community on one element of ICH: the “Salak Yorm” festival. The video documents the process of engaging with the Pratupa community to learn about the history and meaning of this annual festival of the ethnic Yong people, and of determining appropriate and sustainable approaches for safeguarding the practice,( i.e. through documentation and community-based support for intergenerational transmission).  The video also addresses some of the challenges relating to safeguarding the Salak Yorm ritual, such as the loss of literacy in Lanna script.
