This lecture focuses on debates and critiques of the 2003 Convention for Safeguarding Intangible Cultural Heritage as put forth by various groups, including: anthropologists (institutionalization of living culture), museologists (culture as a new museum piece), legal experts (concerns on issues of protection and illegal exploitation) and heritage managers (how can agendas on ICH preservation be incorporated in the management of heritage sites?)
