In this session, Dr. Alivizatou explored the role of museums in safeguarding ICH, demonstrating that since the ratification of the UNESCO Convention on Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2003, museums have taken a much more active role in incorporating ICH safeguarding into their museum activities. Dr. Alivizatou illustrated this shift towards ICH in museology with several specific examples linking ICH safeguarding to core museum activities.
