In this lecture, Dr. Paritta Koanantakool gave an overview of how museums in Thailand developed, and how the concept and expression of museums have shifted. She also gave an overview of culture, folk culture, and cultural heritage before the advent of the Unesco terminology, “intangible cultural heritage.” Finally, drawing on some examples of the Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Anthropology Centre’s museum programmes, she discussed the emergence of intangible heritage work in the museum, and the roles that museum curators, cultural practitioners and researchers can play.
