This work was concerned with an analysis of the Soul texts as well as the socio-economic roles of the Soul ritual of the Tai Song ethnic group in the study area. It was revealed that the ethnic group believed in souls and the soul ritual was conducted for humans, animals and plants. The ritual for humans has still been conducted, while that for animals is merely conducted for a buffalo that would be killed as a sacrificial offering in the Sen Teng Ritual. The ritual for plants is no longer performed nowadays. There were 24 styles of the Soul texts, divided into four purposes: for the rite of passage, for sickness, for prosperity and for appeasement rituals. The contents of the texts reflect the beliefs in souls, spirits and Thaen and supernatural power, seniority, family closeness, social respect, health, wealth, happiness, and simple lifestyle.
