The SAC Library
The SAC library specializes in the collection of anthropological materials in both Thai and foreign languages, including English, Chinese, and French. The collection currently comprises approximately 90,000 volumes on anthropology and related disciplines. Apart from books and scholarly journals, the library houses a collection of dissertations in anthropology produced about Thailand over the past twenty years. In addition to the library collection, our archive aims to collect notes, photographs, slides, and films of anthropologists and scholars working in Thailand.
At present, the SAC library uses a computerized information system for the purposes of information storage, search and retrieval. This enables information to be efficiently organized and accessed, and makes possible the delivery of information services via the internet. The library also classifies materials in a systematic manner according to academic requirements, making it convenient for research and reference. Books are categorized according to the Library of Congress Classification, broadly grouped under academic headings such as anthropology, history, geography, language and literature, etc.
For convenience, a search of the library can be conducted through the SAC library’s website accessible HERE. The library also has in-house experts and personnel to provide information and library services to academics, students and the general public.
Students, independent researchers and members of the general public are eligible to become members of the library for a small fee. For further information about library membership, please visit the library or call 0-2880-9429 Ext. 3608.
