Professor Ouay Ketusingh, former head of the Psychology Section and of the Pharmacology Department of Siriraj Hospital, was the first compiler of traditional Thai medicine histories and had them presented in the 12th anniversary celebrations of the hospital. He later was able to build a museum in 1979. On October 1, 1979, the Crown Prince presided over its opening ceremony. The major exhibits are on the histories and evolution of medications, instruments for medicine compounding, ancient Thai massage, large varieties of Thai herbs, etc.
