Dan Chang Local Museum

Dan Chang Museum features the history, the ethnic groups, and the equipment and tools from the past of this Dan Chang District in Suphanburi Province. The museum is housed within the compound of Dan Chang Elementary School. Its establishment was due to the interest a former director of the school (Nopparat Pimchula) and Ajarn Sitthaporn Pomthong commonly had in old artifacts and tools used by local residents in time past.

Phra Rattana Thatchamuni Memorial

Phra Rattana Thatchamuni Memorial is located in Wat Tha Pho Worawiharn, in the old chamber onced lived by Phra Rattana Thatchamuni (Muang Rattanadhatthera), former abbot of the temple during 1884-1934. The abbot was most respected among the Nakhon Si Thammarat ecclesiastical circle and laymen for his benevolent contributions to educational and religious advancement in King Rama V’s time.

Talad Lang Community Information Center

The Talad Lang Community Information Center is part of house no. 173-175 on Wanitbamrung Road in Tambon Na Pho of Sawi District, Chumphon Province. The area where the house is situated once florished as a residential and economic center of Sawi. It used to be known as Talad Lang (the Lower Market). This very old community, between the Sawi River and the train station, was first populated in 1919, and led by a wealthy Chinese Mr. Mutan Sae Hoon (Hoontrakul).

MueangNakhon Si Thammarat Museum

The museum is located in the Somdej Phra Srinagarindra Garden, a large public park on the outskirts of Nakhon Si Thammarat city. The founding of the museum was conceived in 1991 after the Army Region 4 had constructed the Weerathai Building in the park to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Thai soldiers’ heroic deeds in resisting the Japanese invasion on 8 December 1941.

Wat Makluea Local Museum

Wat Makluea community is located in Tambon Klong Yang by the Narabhirom Canal. King Rama V had commissioned some Chinese laborers to build this canal in order to supply water to paddy fields in the area. Finished in 1879, the canal was named after Queen Rampoeibhamarabhirom, The Queen Mother, and officially opened on 30 August 1979.

Review of Noen Kham Folk Museum

The Lao Noen Kham or Lao Wiang are the minorities inhabiting the areas in Suphan Buri, Chai Nat, Uthai Thani, Nakhon Sawan, Pichit, Phitsanulok and Kamphaeng Phet. Their spoken ethnic languages are similar but the cultures are different. Ajarn Dan Poomchampa who teaches at Ban Noen Kham Elementary School told us about the historical background of the Lao Wiang who moved from Suphan Buri to this present location.

Review of Lao Khang Ethnic Museum

This Lao Khang Ethnic Museum publicly welcomed its visitors in January 2013. It is the newest museum in Nakhon Pathom Province. The inauguration was the achievement of the community where the museum is located, and significantly of Ajarn Jitkawi Krajangmek who is an academic specializing in the studies of ethnic Lao Khang culture. His investigations shed light on their migration in the early Rattanakosin period from Laos into Siam.

Review of Lao Khang Museum, Ban Kud Jok

“Ay Keb” or the Ban Kud Jok headman took us to pay homage to Luang Por Derm, the most important Buddha image of the village. Luang Por Derm’s features resemble those of Ayutthaya-style images. An article related to Luang Por Derm was published in an old issue of the Art and Culture Magazine. It was Ay Keb who gave the interview.

Review of Under Phetchaburi River Museum

An important annual celebration in Petchaburi Province is the Phra Kakhon Khiri Fair. One day during the 2009 fair, a physical education teacher Kittipong Puengtaeng (or Kru Jiab) at Suwanrangsarit Wittayalai School, Petchaburi, had a chance to present to some officers of the Cultural Office of Phetchaburi the work he had been doing regarding a significant Phetchaburi cultural item – the palm-sugar earthenware pot (mor tan).
