The museum is in Sa Bua Kaeo Temple. The display area is a large building open on all sides, full of display things, plus their stories. The front area features a showcase of ancient monies. The abbot had it opened, and took out a 5-baht coin which, he said, had given birth to the museum. He had found it and started wondering what the monies of the old times looked like.

Review พิพิธภัณฑ์พื้นบ้านวัดบูรพาราม
By: webmaster (513) | Date: 13 กุมภาพันธ์ 2555 11:27 น.

The museum was initiated by Phra Kru Siripariyattisarn (Subun Sirintaro, 5th level theology graduate), the current abbot. Formerly what the temple had done was only collecting antique objects left around in the old assembly hall and the pavilion. But when the accumulation became bigger, Phra Kru then thought of putting them in a proper room; otherwise, so he was afraid, these treasures would have deteriorated through times or might be lost.

But if one wishes to start by studying first the available documents and information, one should do so at the Centre of Art and Culture at North Eastern University.

The temple was built in 1856 by Anyakhrulee. After some renovation the old Kalasin Provincial Hall, in 2002 was turned into a museum to house samples of Kalasin products – the good things of Kalasin. The museum is a simple one, with more emphasis on giving knowledge on the ways of living of the community people, so that, hopefully it would make the Kalasin people proud of their own folk wisdom and intelligence manifested in their local products, old and new.
