Usage Policy

Usage Regulations of the Manuscript’s Digital Copies The Western Thailand Manuscripts Database aims to survey, collect, study, and publish old manuscripts that are the source of knowledge and intellect of the local people; specifically, the western part of Thailand is where the manuscripts were discovered and digitally copied. The [SAC] Center already explored manuscripts there in 1998, and created The Literature in Western Thailand Database to collect the manuscript information.

In 2012, the Center created The Survey, Accumulating and Researching of the Local Literatures in Western Thailand Project to survey, collect and make digital copies of the manuscripts in the west. Starting in Nakhon Pathom and Ratchaburi, there was an amount of information gathered, so the Western Thailand Manuscripts Database was created in 2014. It serves as the source of old manuscript information of the Center for people to be able to access and use the information to benefit education and society nowadays.

However, the Database is concerned about the accuracy and suitability in publishing the information involving especially individuals, communities, intellects, and cultures. To avoid presenting information inappropriately and misuse the local intellects both intentionally and unintentionally, usage regulations of the information were set. Symbols are shown to each manuscript’s digital copy to inform user the conditions in using the information. The symbols are:


Creative Common

Creative Common icon icon cc is a copyright license to avoid problems about copyright in sharing information; when one uses the information in the Western Thailand Manuscripts Database, it must be under the following conditions: the source must be cited, the information can not be used for commercial purposes, and do not adapt the information. The information under the Creative Common license will be presented with these following symbols, each having a different meanings.

• Attribution icon Attribution means the Center will allow users to copy, distribute, display, and publish the information, if they give credit to the Center as the source of the information.

• Non-Commercial icon Non-Commercial means the Center will allow users to copy, distribute, display, and publish the information, if they do so only for non-commercial purposes.

• No Derivative Works icon No Derivative Works means the Center will allow users to copy, distribute, display, and publish the information, only if it is the work that is absolutely the same as the original and was not edited or adapted.
