Dr. Helaine Silverman

Helaine Silverman holds a primary academic appointment in the Department of Anthropology at the University of Illinois and is the Director of the Collaborative for Cultural Management and Policy (CHAMP). Helaine has a particular interest in how the contemporary context of archaeology occurs in national and international politics, tourism, and heritage management policy. In recent years, she has conducted a worldwide survey of great archaeological and historic sites and their museums as a comparative project about heritage management, tourism, and national representations. Her current research site is the ancient Khmer temple Prasat Hin Phimai in northeastern Thailand.
