Coeli Barry brings to the Culture and Rights in Thailand Project an interest in the politics, history, and theory of rights in contemporary Southeast Asia. She was a founding faculty member of both M.A. and Ph.D. programs in the Institute for Human Rights and Peace Studies at Mahidol University, and she continues to lecture there. Her research and publications include the politics of religious identity and nationalism in Southeast Asia, literature and politics in the Philippines, and the development of human rights ideas in Asia. She holds a Ph.D. in Comparative Government from Cornell University and has been a visiting professor at Cornell University and at UCLA.
