“Fieldworks are not only notes-taking on people in the field, but they enhance the readers to appreciate life of the others through writings. The fields also provide a platform for anthropologists to revise and to question their works. Both anthropologists and people in the field learn each other. The fields teach the anthropologists to know themselves.”

Officially conducted by the Public Welfare Department of the Ministry of Interior, several other organizations, such as the Asia Foundation that provided financial support, assisted in the project.

“I am interested in Tai studies because I want to make understanding on culture and behavior of Thai population and of the people who live outside the country. Sometimes the places they live are not “territorized” by any states. Since I have learned history, it is believed that Thai people always stay here. But it is always skeptical. I therefore decided to conduct studies in various areas of Tai population. I intend to give possible explanations about diffusion of Tai ethnic groups, relations between Tai people and the others in different settlement, and finally to provide different explanation on development of Thai population.
